‘Helping parents engage with their children’s learning by offering support where needed’

action for children.png - Daventry Centre is a leading Children’s Charity funded by Northamptonshire County Council, Children and Young people’s Service.
They offer a range of Group and individual programmes.

For Children there are group support programmes such as Confidence building, Anger management, Domestic Abuse and Avoiding Conflict with adults.

For Parents there are programmes such as Living with Teenagers, Understanding Children’s Behaviour, Protective Behaviours, Money Matters and Parenting Skills.
All programmes are free and transport and daytime crèche facilities are available for families who need it. 

Accessing the service.  People are referred to the family centre by social workers, health visitors, doctors and schools.  You can also ask for a service yourself.  Ring the family centre to find out more details or speak to a member of staff to arrange a home visit.

Children’s centre’s are developed in line with the needs of the local community so no one children’s centre is the same. However, there is a core set of services they provide:

  • child and family health services, ranging from health visitors to breastfeeding   
    support
  • advice on parenting, local childcare options and access to specialist services for
    families like speech therapy, healthy eating advice or help with managing money 
  • help for you to find work or training opportunities, using links to local Jobcentre Plus
    offices and training providers
